Elizabeth R. Conder was born in Owen County, November 13, 1834; departed this life June 26, 1909; age 74 years, 7 months and 11 days. She was the daughter of Jacob and Delila Litten and was married to Elisha Conder January 21, 1858, who preceded her to the better land almost five years ago. To this union were born three daughters, Mary Matilda, who died at the age of two and one-half years, Mrs. Calvin Keller and Mrs. Joel Wilson. Besides these two daughters, she leaves four brothers, five sisters, six grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

The deceased is the third member of a family of ten children; the first to leave her childhood home and the first to depart this life. About forty years ago she confessed her faith in Christ and united with the Christian church at Ellettsville, since that time she has lived a devoted Christian life. She has been a sufferer for seventeen months; the last ten months of cancer. She bore her suffering patiently and expressed her willingness many times to go.

She died at the home of Mrs. Calvin Keller, where all was done for her that loving hands could do.

The funeral services were conducted by the writer in the presence of a large concourse of friends.
