Elmer I. King, 72, of 156 Bear Hill Rd., owner of the former King's Trucking Co. in Pawtucket and Birchwood Farms in Cumberland for 40 years before retiring in 1983, died Tuesday at Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in Trenton, Tenn., he was a son of the late Martin E. and Bertha (Simpson) King. He lived in Cumberland 35 years, and previously had lived in Pawtucket.
Mr. King was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Eugene T. Lefebvre Post, VFW, Central Falls.
He was a former member of the Rhode Island Horsemen's Association, and the Rhode Island Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Mr. King was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He is survived by five daughters, a son, three sisters, a brother and 10 grandchildren.
