Peggy Ann Slavey, 68, of Fairland, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her home.

Born Feb. 7, 1937, in Somerset, Ky., she was the daughter of Charles L. and Zora (Eaton) Prather. She married James W. Slavey Sr. on May 11, 1954, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter, Robin (husband, Lee) Burkhead of Fairland; one son, James William Slavey Jr. of Fairland; four sisters, Marie Ping of Shelbyville, Linda K. Grundy and Edith Prather, both of Somerset, and Betty Parrish of LaBelle, Fla.; two brothers, Henry R. Prather of Shelbyville and Earl Prather of LaBelle; and three grandchildren, James Purdue, Jarrod Burkhead and Paige Nicole Slavey, all of Fairland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bill Prather.

Mrs. Slavey was a homemaker.

She attended Shelbyville Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. John Cooper and Rich Jenkins officiating.

Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery, in Shelby County.
