Word has been received here announcing the death of Chris Hauck, one of Loup City's early settlers, who passed away on January 3. Mr. Hauck resided at San Diego, Calif.
Robert Young, one of our former citizens called on Mr. Hauck on New Years day and found him in poor health and he told Mr. Young that he was going to go to a sanitarium. Mr. Young went back several days after and found Mr. Hauck lying on the floor dead. He was living alone and had a fine residence and had considerable property.
He was one of Loup City's early settlers, being a blacksmith by trade and had a shop on the block south of the Nebraska Light plant. He left Loup City about 1904. Mr. Hauck has three children, a son and a daughter residing in California and a daughter, Mrs. Sophia Kramer of Litchfield, Nebraska.
