George W. Mitchell
George and Will Mitchell, who live near Vinita, I. T., arrived yesterday morning, being called here to be present with their father, Uncle George Mitchell, at Bloomfield during his last hours.(Gentry Journal-Advance 3/16/06).

Uncle George Mitchell died yesterday at 12:30.Funeral services will be held tomorrow, interment at Bloomfield Cemetery.Will have something more to say next issue.(Gentry Journal-Advance 3/16/06).

Mr. Geo. W. Mitchell was born in Meigs County, Tennessee April 10, 1823, died at Bloomfield, Ark. March 15, 1906; aged eighty-two years, eleven months and five days. The deceased was married in December 1845 to Miss M. A. Londagin. She, who left him with all her loved ones and interests in this world for her home on high March 17, 1902-preceding her husband just four years, save two days. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Mitchell was among the early settlers in this country, having come to the state in the year 1850; settling first in Washington County, but soon afterward moving to Benton County, locating north of Bloomfield at which place he died; having reached the ripe old age of almost 83 years.He was the father of ten children-seven sons and three daughters-all of whom survive him except the oldest daughter, Elizabeth, who died in 1865. All of these have reached maturity and are among the most prosperous, thrifty, and substantial citizens of the country. Deceased embraced a hope in Jesus about twenty years before his death.Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the family residence March 17, 1906 after which the remains were interred in Bloomfield Cemetery with Masonic honors-deceased having been an honored member of that fraternity.Sam Eaton.(Gentry Journal-Advance 3/23/06).
