Henry married Sarah Jane Newberry on November 19, 1835 in Virginia. Henry and Sarah are the parents of Henry J. Brown, Jr., Martha "Mattie" Jane Brown Kyle, William "Will" J. A. Brown, Richard Newberry "Babe" Brown, Elizabeth Ann Brown Davis, Sara E. Pauling Brown Rhea, Josephine Brown and Lafragina "Frances" May Brown Abernathy.

Martha "Mattie" Jane Brown married Charles Miron Kyle, son of William P. Kyle and Elenor "Ellen" Tucker, in Giles County, Tennessee on December 5, 1867 . They moved to Lovelady, Texas, then to McLennan County, Texas. The children of Martha and Charles are Mattie Elizabeth Kyle Powell, Willie Ann Kyle Abernathy, Walter J. Kyle, Benjamin J. Kyle, Mary E. Kyle, Mollie Elizer Kyle McMillan, Sarah Ellen "Nellie" Kyle Johnson and Sammie Drusilla Kyle Dyer. Walter J. Kyle married Laura "Bettie" Elizabeth Johnson on December 22, 1895 in Lovelady, Texas. Walter and Elizabeth are the parents of Vernon Elvin Kyle, Omie Mae Kyle Harrelson, Everett Kyle, Annie Bell Kyle, Whit W. Kyle, Mollie Irene Kyle Kirkpatrick, Mamie Lucille Kyle Young and Barnie Stanley Kyle. Vernon Elvin Kyle married Bonnie Mae Helm Shelton on August 8, 1928 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas.

DIED—At his residence near Prospect, of Pneumonia, on Wednesday the 16th inst., Rev. HENRY J. BROWN, aged 62 years. He was one of our oldest and best citizens, and for many years a well-known member of the Methodist church.
