Mary Ashton Bierly, 100, Elizabeth, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Golden Guardians.
Born June 12, 1914, in Laconia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lucinda Dannacher Ashton.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Buena Vista.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Bierly; a son, Paul A. Bierly; a sister, Virginia Bell; and four brothers, James, Virgil, Thomas and Paul Ashton.
Survivors include five daughters, Rowena Orme, Mary Lou Summers and Shirley Fessell, all of Elizabeth, Dianne Frakes of Laconia and Karen Drake of Marietta, Ga.; four sons, James, Roger and Gene Bierly, all of Elizabeth, and Richard Bierly of New Albany; a brother, Ralph Ashton of Louisville; 23 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, March 5, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Friday, March 6, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Buena Vista with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: Father Fred Denison.
Pallbearers: Mark, Greg, Jeremy, John and Bret Bierly, Joe Frakes, Tony Orme, Michael Summers, David Fessell and Jordan Drake.
Honorary pallbearer: Sonny Eve.
