Wilhelmine Alice "Minnie" Johnson was born on August 19, 1910 in Houston, Texas and entered into eternal rest on February 26, 2015 in Friendswood, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Johnson, Sr. in 1968.

Educated through the 10th grade in public school, Minnie left school to help support her widowed mother and worked as a seamstress for Waddell's Home Furnishing Company in the 1930s. For several decades following, she worked from home making custom drapes, bedspreads, and slipcovers for some of Houston's finest homes. She was a lifetime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School to nursery aged children and sang in the Chancel Choir. With innate good humor and a willingness to sometimes act foolish, her "ballerina" routines at the church's annual talent show were always a hit.

Prior to her marriage, Minnie helped raise the children of deceased siblings. Later, at home, she was care-giver first for her mother, who died in 1962, and then for her husband, who suffered early onset Alzheimer's. She was also a Cub Scout den mother for six years. A lifelong Democrat with a keen interest in public affairs, Minnie always voted, even after she became infirm. She had an uncanny ability to see the good in most any circumstance and in everyone she met on life's journey.

Left to cherish her in memory are her sons, Charles A. "Chuck" Johnson, Jr. and his wife O'Reen (Houston, TX); Wayne Thomas Johnson (Tucson, AZ); and the Rev. William R. "Bill" Johnson (Claremont, CA); granddaughters Doni Marie Johnson and her husband Dustin; Tracy Michelle Johnson; great-grandchildren Alec McKinney Johnson and Justice Marie Johnson; cherished niece, Minnie Lou Gaeckler; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Minnie was also preceded in eternal life by her parents, Emilie Schumacher and Henry Fischer, Sr., and by six siblings: Caroline "Lena" Gorman, Fannie Hartman, Henry Fischer, Jr., John Fischer, Annie Bammel, and Ernest Fischer.

Funeral service will be in the Main Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The Rev. Sean McClanahan will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
