*************************************************

Sallie Ellis, second daughter of John Thomas and Mary E. Rodgers, was born near Rock, Ill., December 16, 1881. On May 14, 1945, surrounded by those whom she loved, she peacefully passed to her eternal reward, at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 28 days.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mack Ellis, in the year of 1900. One child, Wayne, came to bless their happy union.
Mrs. Ellis professed faith in Christ when a young woman. On September 21, 1924 she united with the Baptist church at Mt. Zion, to which she remained a faithful member, giving her time and energy until the final summons.
Surviving her passing are her devoted husband, Mack Ellis; her affectionate son, Wayne, now in the service of his country, stationed at Pearl Harbor, and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Womick Ellis, of Anna, Ill.
Others of her immediate family, whose hearts are overflowing with sadness at her passing are her aged mother, Mrs. Mary E. Rodgers, Golconda, Ill., three sisters, Martha Hicks, Anna, Ill., Orpha Walther, Glendale, Ill., and Hettie Sanders, East St. Louis, Ill.
Those mourning the loss of a devoted aunt are two nephews, Carl M. Rodgers, stationed in Italy, and Norvan E. Adams, stationed in Florida and four nieces, Beatrice Griebel, Chicago, Ill., Mary Parmley, Golconda, Ill., Wilma Beabout, Chicago, Ill., and Vivien Eichelberger, East St. Louis, Ill. Two grand-nieces, Marilyn Griebel and June Beabout survive.
Preceding her in death were her father, John Thomas Rodgers who died November 9, 1936, two sisters, Anna, who died March 5, 1909 and Dacy who died October 3, 1926 and an only brother, Charlie, who passed away November 9, 1920.
Many other relatives and a host of sorrowing friends are deeply grieved at the loss of this beloved and holy woman.
