Age 72, son of the late Wade and Virginia Burwell Ticknor. Jim was a graduate of Albion High School Class of 1951, served in the US Air Force as a pilot during the Korean Conflict, and was member of Western Lodge #304 in Albion. Jim was a pioneer in the technical rescue field. He has several patents for lifesaving equipment and has performed 44 rescues during his career. He provided over 170,000 man hours training firefighter and rescue crews in the U.S. and Canada. Jim authored the first high angle rescue training syllabus for the Texas Commission of fire protection in 1982. He served as a volunteer fireman and councilman in Pantego, Texas and served as an Albion, Pennsylvania volunteer fireman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death in 1985 by a brother, William Ticknor.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Ticknor; two sons, Greg Ticknor and Jason Ticknor (Lori) both of Texas; two daughters, Lori McPherson (Ralph) and Darla Summerville (George), also of Texas; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ellen Bates (James) of Texas and Jane Drugan (Ray) of Arizona; two brothers, Richard Ticknor (Bertie) of Florida, and Robert Ticknor (Elizabeth) of Texas.
