Dale L. Slaughter, 89 years, of Cedar Bluffs, NE died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Arbor Manor in Fremont, NE. Dale was born November 19, 1925 in Ellis, Kansas to Fred and Flossie (Beach) Slaughter. He grew up in Ellis and attended school there. He worked on the family farm until entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. Dale married Dorothy Janak on April 7, 1951 in Brainard, NE. Dorothy died June 21, 2007.

Dale was a lineman for Syracuse Eastern Public Power, which later became OPPD for 35 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. at Hayes, KS and was a member of the V.F.W. at Wahoo, NE.

He is survived by grandson, David Svara of Fremont; son-in-law, Nick Svara of Cedar Bluffs; brother, Fred Slaughter of Ellis, KS; sister, Deloris Gruen of Lenexa, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Donna Slaughter and Dianne Svara; brother, Raymond Slaughter; and sisters, Dorothy McIntosh, Beulah McIntosh, Betty Mae Binder and Bernice Patterson.

Memorial Mass will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs, NE. Monsignor Daniel Seiker will officiate. Military honors conducted by American Legion Rejda Post #273 of Brainard, NE will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Brainard, at 1:30 PM on Saturday.
