Marshall S. Bliss was the son of George S. Bliss of Vermont and Minnie Evelyn (Brown) Bliss of Prescott, Massachusetts, who moved to California between 1910-1920. While his mother appeared at Berkley, California in 1920, Marshall S. Bliss appeared with his grandparents in Prescott, Massachusetts, in the 1920 United States census. The old sawmill and the house where he lived with his grandparents was demolished. However, historians of the Swift River Valley remembered Foster Brown's sawmill and Marshall Foster Brown's house in Prescott, Massachusetts. Marshall S. Bliss was an eleventh generation descendant of William White who was a passenger on the ship Mayflower through his mother's grandmother Seraphina C. (Wheeler) the wife of Foster Brown.
