Bill was a Civil Engineer & Land Surveyor and owner of Bowman Engineering. He previously worked for the City Parish of Baton Rouge in the Engineering Division.

He was a native of Natchez, MS, and a resident of Baton Rouge. He died at 3:15 am Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at his residence at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was a Retired Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Laffey. His job on ship was a Fire Control Technician.

Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, Sunday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will resume on Monday from 10:00 am until the religious service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

He is survived by his three sons: Ernest L. Bowman of Dallas, North Carolina, Steve W. Bowman of Baton Rouge, and Allen E. Bowman & wife Tracy Hoover of Denham Springs; sister: Betty Bowman Breland Weber of Baton Rouge; brother: Donald R. Bowman of Salisbury, North Carolina; and longtime dedicated employee: George A. Bozeman III.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Pace Bowman; parents: William F. & Jodie Walters Bowman; sister: Ethel Bowman Stevens.

Bill was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, Class of 1947; He was a 1953 graduate of LSU in the College of Engineering. He played trombone in the LSU Tiger Band. Bill was an avid fisherman and a fan of LSU sports, especially football and baseball.
