Roland was the son of John Madison Buckley and Sarah Maude (Atkins) Buckley.

He was the husband of Willadean (Duncan) Buckley.

Obituary: Monday, May 11, 1981; The Jackson Sun, Jackson, Tennessee
Dr. Roland Buckley, former mayor, dies at Hollow Rock, Services for Dr. Roland H. Buckley, age 88, a former Hollow Rock Mayor, were today at Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Allison officiating. Burial was in the Prospect Cemetery. Dr. Buckley , a retired pharmacist, died Saturday afternoon at Benton County General Hospital in Camden after a short illness. He was a native of Weakley County. He organized and directed the first band at Central High School in 1915. Dr. Buckley was a World War I veteran and was an officer and band director in both the Tennessee National Guard and Army. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Willodean Duncan Buckley.
