AIKEN - Entered into rest, Sunday, March 27, 2005, Mr. Gibson Maroney, age 80, of Aiken, S.C., husband of the late Gladys Rish Maroney and son of the late Otis Maroney and the late Lily Puckett Maroney. He is survived by a sister, Mildred Maroney Shealy of Batesburg, S.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alafair Maroney Spradley and six brothers, Cole, Floyd, Jimmie, Sam, Julian and Elton Maroney. He was born in Lexington County, but had been a resident of Aiken County for a number of years. He was a retired construction worker with Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Aiken. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country during World War II. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home. The interment will follow in Pond Branch Methodist Church Cemetery in Pond Branch, S.C., with military honors. The pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, March 29th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
