and Sarah (Sally) Johnson

Married Clarinda Martin Abt 1845

Elick always wore a stove pipe hat and he always used a cane when grandpa Jim knew him. Dad's favorite story about Elick was about a wagon ride on which Jim took Elick. Jim drove under a tree with some low hanging branches which knocked off Elick's hat. In a quite gruff and irritated manner, Elick said to Jim, "have Floyd bring his axe and cut that damned tree down!" (Excerpt from Hepple Family Register)
