Oran Lon Hagood, 82, of Alvaton, KY died Friday, February 20, 2015 at his residence. The Brazoria, TX native was a son of the late James D. and Carrie Johnson Hagood. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and was later stationed at Elmendorf Field in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War. In May 1952, while in Illinois, Oran met and married Eva M. Ping. Together, they had five daughters. On discharge from the military, he worked as a farmer, welder and a roughneck in the oil fields in Texas. He also owned and operated Oran's Pump and Vacuum Service in Corpus Christi. Later, he became a drilling consultant working off shore in the Gulf of Mexico as well as traveling and working in Malaysia, Peru, Libya and Saudi Arabia. In 1987 while working in the Kentucky oil fields, he purchased a farm and moved his family and cattle from Texas. Oran was a member of the Alvaton Church of Christ, Past Master five times of Halfway Masonic Lodge #852, member of Scottish Rite and Rizpah Shrine Club in Madisonville, KY.



He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years: Eva;

Their daughters: Karian (Jim); Doris (Dennis); Frances (Alex); Mildred (Tom) and Eva (Daniel);

Several grandchildren: James, Dee, Denise, Audrey, Oran, Carrie, Jack, Hannah, Logan and Max;

A few great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends;

1 sister: Sandra;

3 brothers: Ernest, Lewis and Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister: Evelyn; 3 brothers: Sidney, Marvin and Norman.



Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Wells officiating. Cremation will follow and private burial services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home. Halfway Lodge #852 will hold masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 33105; Shriners Children's Hospital, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104.
