Bishop J. Allen
Friends of the B. R. Hammett and the Bishop J. Allen families will be saddened to learn of the death of Bishop J. Allen, Jr. on Monday, July 15 in Dallas, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Allen had returned to Dallas on Friday, July 12 after a 10-day vacation in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Elledge on Brozville Road.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife Tish Hammett Allen, children, Bishop J. Allen, III and Sherry, Ruthe Allen and Glen Land, Robert H. Allen and Joyce, Arthur W. Allen and Elise. Dodd B. Allen and Sharon and eleven grandchildren.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Chapel, with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Dr. Herbert Howard officiated.
Pallbearers were Bill Hammett, Robert Hammett, Sam Hammett, Danny Browning, Kenneth Hammett, and Jim Hammett.
