LoRay D. George, 83, Albert, Kansas, died Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse, Kansas.
Mr. George was born September 1, 1931, in rural Albert, Barton County, Kansas, the son of Herman “H. D.” and Hilda “A. C.” (Tammen) George. A farmer, he was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church; Peace Lutheran Church Council, and a life member of Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery Committe; all of Albert, Kansas. He was also a life member of VFW Post 7271, Larned, Kansas.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
On August 21, 1959, he married Anna Mae Wheeler at Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 3, 2002.
Survivors include: his son, LoRay W. George, and his wife, Kathryn George, Albert, Kansas; four daughters, Jill LeManske, and her husband, Derek LeManske, Overland Park, Kansas; Tacy Keener, and her husband, Jeff Keener, Rush Center, Kansas, Gail Sanders, and her husband, Steve Sanders, La Crosse, Kansas, and Kara Jecha, and her husband, Jay Jecha, Timken, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Laurel George, Lloyd George, and LaVern George; and two sisters, Irene Nagel, and Irma Ell.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 24, 2015, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A prayer service will be at 7:00 P.M. Church visitation will be Thursday, February 26, 2015, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, Kansas, with Pastor Laura Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Albert, Kansas.
