IOWA — Mary E. Dazey, 66, of Davenport, Iowa formerly of LaPorte, Texas, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at Genesis East Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in LaPorte, Texas. Cremation rites were accorded.
Mary was born August 27, 1942, in Gatesville, Texas, the daughter of John and Ella (Hill) Gardner. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Dazey on March 17, 1995, in Galveston, Texas. She was raised in Texas City, Texas and then worked as a Principal’s Secretary for the LaPorte, Texas School District for 26 years, retiring in 2001, she moved to the Quad Cities in 2002.
Mary’s greatest joy was being with her family and friends. She developed many special relationships with close friends and enjoyed playing darts, Yahtzee and Trivial Pursuit.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Kenny, of Davenport; daughters Kelly (Phil) Woods, of Baytown, Texas and their daughters, Amy and Megan; Lisa (Jack) Wilcox, of Corsicana, Texas, and their children Abby and Matthew; stepsons Tim (Karen) Dazey, Normal, Illinois and their daughter, Kylee Rose; Eric (Emily) Dazey, Corvallis, Oregon and their daughters Anna and Rachel; sisters Shirley (Danny) Murphy, LaPorte, Texas, Pauline (Gary) Carney, Nacogdoches, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Penny.
A brother, Bobby and a sister, Patsy preceded her in death.
