Selma Jurls, age 88, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Wadley Hospital in Hope, Arkansas. She was born Selma Helen Smith to Lester and Birdie Smith of Stamps, Arkansas, on December 20, 1927.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. You could always find her sitting in the lobby at Homestead Manor with a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Vines who died in WWII, husband A.J. Hovarter and husband, O.B. Jurls; brother, Loyce Smith; sisters, Louise Page of Magnolia, Ila Mae Strange of Stamps, and Joyce Landry of Louisiana.

She is survived by three sons, Donnie Hovarter of Waldo, Jimmie Hovarter of Stamps, and Larry Hovarter and wife Barbara of Stamps; one grandson Dennis Hovarter and wife Diana of Hope; one granddaughter, Jessica Dies and husband Thomas of Haughton, LA; five great-grandchildren, Payson Travis and Tatem Elizabeth Hovarter of Hope, and Jeremy Dies, Trace Dies, and Anna Dies of Haughton, LA; one sister, Pat Owens of Raceland, LA and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Bro. Mike Turner and Bro. Doug Hovarter officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
