Providence Seraphine Pusateri Armstrong (Provy), 90, died February 20, 2015 after a long illness. She was born and raised in New Orleans where she met the love of her life, Luther Armstrong, a Tulane student and Navy veteran. They were married for nearly 60 years. His career moved them to Nashville, then Memphis. Provy quickly became a fixture in the St. Paul community in Whitehaven, volunteering at St. Paul Church and School, and Bishop Byrne High School. There they met lifelong friends, including their beloved "Saturday Night Group." Provy was a founding member of Mother Cabrini Circle and Cabrini House. She served on the board of Catholic Charities and was active in Madonna Circle, St. Luke Circle, Ladies of Charity, and Ave Maria Guild. She was a successful Realtor and was awarded the prestigious Realtor Associate of the Year in 1989. She was named a recipient of President George H. W. Bush's "1000 Points of Light." A humble woman with a beautiful soul, she truly found happiness in her faith, her family, and her outreach. Her sweet spirit in the last years of her life in spite of her physical challenges was a true testament to her faith. She taught us how to live and ultimately how to die with grace, peace and trust in our Lord. Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband Luther Armstrong, Sr., her parents, John Guy and Santa LaRocca Pusateri, brother, Gerard Pusateri, sister, Doris Roth, son-in-law, Jean Rousseau. She leaves behind her six children, all of Memphis, TN: four sons, Chip and wife, Meredith; Guy and wife, Cathy; Mike and wife, Linda; Drew and wife, Jayme; and two daughters, Sandy Rousseau, and Jean McIvor and husband, Robert. She leaves her 14 grandchildren: Lou, Andrew, Will, Matt, Silas, Peter, Macy, and Annie Armstrong; Robyn Meredith; Brian and wife, Kelley, and Neal and wife, Joni Rousseau; Carrie and Stephen McIvor; and Casey and husband, Matt Yoakum. She also leaves her eight great-grandchildren: Jacob, McKenzie, Sophia, Ellis, McKenna, Michael, Matthew, and Madeline. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 24 with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Canale Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 25 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cabrini Circle, c/o St Paul Catholic Church, 1425 E. Shelby Dr., Memphis TN 38116.
