Crawfordsville Review, November 23, 1878
James A. Gray, who resided a few miles west of this city, died last Tuesday of paralysis after a brief illness. Mr. Gray was a native of this county and was about forty-three years old. He was considered one of the best civil engineers in the State, and at one time had charge of an engine on the I.B. & W. He leaves a wife, three children and a large circle of relatives who mourn his loss. The remains were interred at Wesley chapel.
Crawfordsville Review, November 30, 1878
Last week in publishing a notice of the funeral of James A. Gray, we were in error in one particular. Mr. Gray was born in Butler county, Ohio, in 1836. He was an engineer by profession, and was a member of the Masonic fraternity. He died of apoplexy the 20th inst., and his remains were interred at Oak Hill cemetery.
