A. Eugene "Doc" Retherford, 78, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Reid Hospital.
He was born in Richmond on August 11, 1936, the son of Glenn L. and Corinna M. (Beard) Retherford and was a life long resident of Wayne County. He lived most of his life in the Economy area.
He was a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown High School, a member of Hagerstown First United Methodist Church and of Hagerstown Lodge #49, F&AM. He was a farmer and a retired employee of Perfect Circle / Dana Corp. and a member of the 25 year club. Through most of his life, he was active with horse pulling.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Elwood) Retherford; two sons, Rick Retherford and Mike Retherford; two granddaughters, Linsey and Lauren and many cousins.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 30, at Culberson Funeral Home. Pastor Rodney Frieden will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Monday.
