George W. Scholten, 63, died at 8
p.m. Wednesday at his home, 410
West Seventh street, after an ill-
ness of a year, of complications.
Born May 3, 1876, in Muscatine, he
had been a resident of this city
all of his life.
He married Mary Callahan May 25,
1904 in Muscatine. He was a member
of the Grace Lutheran church and
was affiliated with the carpenters
union of Muscatine and was secre-
tary of the Standard Life Insurance
Co.
Surviving are the widow, one brother,
R.E. Scholten, Muscatine; three sis-
ters, Mrs. Kate Felzer of Davenport,
Mrs. Nannie Olds, of Muscatine, and
Mrs. Nellie Nyens of Chicago. His
parents, two brothers and two sisters
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30
p.m., Saturday at the Ralph J. Wittich
Funeral home with the Rev. Reno Fro-
benius, pastor of the Grace Lutheran
church, officiating. The body will
remain at the family residence at 410
West Seventh street until Saturday at
11:30 a.m. when it will be taken to
the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
