It is with great sadness, but loving memories, that the family of Margaret Louise Dunn, known as "Louise" by friends and family, announce her death on March 17, 2011 at the age of 95. Louise had been a resident of the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home since 2008. She died peacefully in her sleep at the nursing home.
Louise was born in Digby, the daughter of the late Frederick and Grace McHugh. She lived in Digby, Halifax and Saint John, NB, before settling in Smith's Cove, NS in 1929. As a young woman she worked in a dentist's office and then as a store clerk. She married Aubrey Adams in 1941. Louise was a stay-at-home Mum, devoting herself to her husband and their only child, Wendy.
As a member of the parish of Trinity Anglican Church, Digby, and also the Anglican parish of Clements, she was very involved in the life and work of the Anglican Church of Canada, serving as Sunday School teacher, on the Altar Guild, and in any capacity in which she was needed in her parish. She had a deep love of God and her faith was unshakable and firm. She is well known for her tireless work with the Prayer Book Society of Canada and with the Nova Scotia Branch, in particular, playing a large role in the work of that organization as a Director for many years.
Louise was an avid reader, bridge player and animal lover.
Very special for her were the horses, dogs and cats that were cherished pets over her lifetime. In recent years she had owned Shetland Sheepdogs and loved them dearly. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds and the property around her home was a sanctuary for all of God's creatures. Gardening and enjoying the beauty of her flower beds was also a great interest.
In 1965, Louise's beloved first husband, Aubrey, died suddenly. She eventually went to work at the Digby General Hospital as receptionist and switchboard operator. She made many friends in her workplace who will remember her fondly.
In 1969 she married Harold Dunn with whom she entered into a most loving bond and companionship for the remainder of her life. She continued her work at the Digby hospital for a number of years and was greatly missed upon her retirement.
Louise will be remembered by all friends and family for her selfless and thoughtful giving to others. She was always there for those who needed her kindness or a listening ear. She was generous in every way with her time and energy to help those who were in need. Louise reached out with an inborn sense of Christian charity and was much loved for her caring sensitivity. She loved all of her family with a passion and sincere pride. All will hold dear the many memories of happy family gatherings, big meals and much fun at the Dunn home.
Louise was a member of the congregation of St. Edward the Confessor Anglican Church, parish of Clements in Clementsport.

Louise also leaves behind her step-son, Ray Dunn (Linda), their children and grandchildren; nephew James Hearn (Susan), Eltham, England; niece, Susan Patstone, St. John, NB; and niece Pamela Landry, Ottawa, Ontario as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was much loved by all and will be deeply missed.
