Abdo, Helene R. (nee Jacob) In 1922, Helene Roselyn (Jacob) Abdo, formerly of Minneapolis and currently of Edina, was born, baptized and thereafter educated and raised in Tucson AZ. She was one of eight children of William and Rose Jacob. In 1943 she married her sole love, E. John Abdo ("John"), an attorney from Minneapolis. Both were of Lebanese descent. In 1946 they moved to Minneapolis and had 7 children all of whom survive her: Robert P. Abdo (Bobbi), Lawrence W. Abdo (Caryl), Richard J. Abdo (Lorna), Janice K. Hanson (Daniel, 1948-2013), Maureen R. Nimis (Steve) of Oxford, OH, Kenneth J. Abdo (Karen) and Ann Marie Roberts (Dave) of Las Vegas, NV, together with 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. John Abdo, and by her brothers, George Jacob, Wally Jacob, and Billy Jacob, and her sisters, Mary ("Snookie") Calvarese, and Cecilia Scheick. She is survived by a sister and brother, Marlene F. Thomas (Honon) and Daniel J. Jacob (Rae Ann), both of Tucson, and a brother-in-law, Ronald T. Abdo (Tania) of Reno NV, and many nieces and nephews and their children. Helene was active in her church and community. She was a Cub Scout leader, an officer of the League of Catholic Women, Altar and Rosary Society, Lawyers Wives of Minneapolis. She was a member of Edina Country Club and enjoyed golf and a member of the Minneapolis Athletic Club where she loved participating in couples bowling. Over the years and most recently she kept her mind active by playing bridge. Special thanks to her good friends and companions, Judy Day, Norma Holmes and Jan Larson. Visitation is on Wednesday July 17th from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Washburn-McReavy funeral home, 5000 West 50th St, Edina, MN 55436. Memorials will be given at 7:30. The funeral will be held Thursday, July 18th at 10:00 A.M. at Annunciation Church, 509 W 54th St., Minneapolis, MN 55419. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to E.
