She was born April 18, 1920 in Park City to Hugh and Callie Henderson.
She is survived by her daughters, Irene Gates, Andrea Burge, Connie Gates (Ken), Martha (Lib) Fullmer (Dan), Carla Peacock, and Caroline Wallis (Tom); twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Hugh and Frank; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Carl Gates; her parents; son-in-law, George Burge; two grandchildren; and seven siblings.
Her favorite pastime in later life was golf, until she was ninety-two years old. She also loved fishing, camping, bowling, a good card game with her friends, and trips to Wendover.
She and Fred owned and worked together for many years in the restaurant industry and she later worked at the University of Utah, where she retired.
"She was a sweet soul and will be greatly missed."
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Aspen Care, Silverado Hospice, and Beehive Home of West Jordan for the care and love they showed our mother.
A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary Chapel, 4760 South State Street (100 East), with a viewing prior from 10:0-11:00 a.m.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery.
