Sylvester M. Alger, 86, died Sunday Morning at his home, 502 Kemper Street, St. Joseph. He was a retired plumber. Mr. Alger was born in Mound City and lived here many years. He was a member of the Christian Church here. The last 11 years he had resided in St. Joseph.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora E. Alger of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Housewirth, Gladstone, MO, and Mrs. Thelma Christenson, Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Annie Campbell, Sidney, Nebr.; a brother, S.S. Alger, Modesto, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Harold Fraser and Mrs. Carl Thomsen, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Alex Ratcliff, St. Joseph; a stepson, Charles McGuire of Oregon; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Services were conducted by Dr. E.F. Hagee at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Heaton-Bowman Chapel, St. Joseph, MO. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery here.
