Sylvia Inez Tomlin Angus, 86, of Amherst, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Amherst. Born in Amherst, September 15, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Sam Henry and Minnie Hartless Tomlin.Mrs. Tomlin was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Ward Angus; two sons-in-law, Leroy Cash, Sr. and Thomas H. Mays; and six brothers. Surviving are her son, Sam Morris Angus and wife Susan of Amherst; daughter, Margaret Angus Robertson and husband, William of Monroe, sisters, Lillie Tomlin and Ruby Tomlin, brother Bennie Tomlin all of Amherst; sister-in-law, Myrtle S. Tomlin of Amherst; six grandchildren, Leroy Cash, Jr and wife Angie, Jennifer Cash Anderson and husband, D.K. and Meghan Suzanne Cash all of Amherst, Michael Brian Angus, Deborah Michelle Alger, both of Amherst and Samantha Angus Turner and husband Matt of Lynchburg; five great-grandchildren, Malik Anderson, Jaden Anderson, Amber Alger, Xander Morris Arbaugh and Emma Pearl Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst with the Rev. Dwayne Martin and the Rev. Michael Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fairmont Crossing, Resident Fund, 173 Brockman Park Drive, Amherst, VA 24521 or Ebenezer Baptist Church, 882 Ebenezer Road, Amherst, VA 24521. The family would like to thank the staff of Fairmont Crossing for all the loving care given our mother.
