Joyce Aileen Adler Schiber
d. November 20, 2018
Joyce Aileen Adler Schiber, 84, of Granite Shoals, Texas, left us the way she lived her life: HER way. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Her funeral service is planned for Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Marble Falls with interment to follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls, TX.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford “Skip” Schiber. Her surviving family includes her children, Steve and wife Pat, of Wimberley, Texas, Tony and wife Kathleen, of Lewisville, Texas, and her daughter, Melissa and husband, Steve Hoffnagle of Plano, Texas; Don Taylor, her loving partner who took great care of her; grandchildren, Michael & Brandy Schiber, Jenny & Matt Kyle, Tiffany Schiber, Brittany and Casey McKinney and Laura Lower; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Anjalee Kyle, Brooklyn Schiber; and future great-grandsons, Everett & Hudson Schiber. She is also survived by two sisters, Polly Dalton and Delores Nix.
Joyce was a vivacious person who gave love and support to all who passed through her life. She was a fighter, never giving up, not when her home burned to the ground in 1994 taking all their possessions nor when she had a massive stroke in 2001. The doctors were not sure she would ever leave the facility. She not only left, she walked out and kept getting up for the next 17 years despite all the “difficulties” thrown her way. She showed the strength and love that made her Mom, Grandma and Gram Gram. She hasn’t stopped now but rather will continue to live through the family she raised to stand up for themselves and never give up the fight – rather to do it their way!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to:
Central Texas Tortoise Rescue, 687 Falconwood Drive, San Marcos, TX 78666
