Doris M. Pumphrey Doris Marlene Pumphrey, 41, of Chatham died Saturday at St. John's Hospice.
She was born Sept. 1, 1953, in Vandalia, the daughter of Don L. and Mary L. Koontz Albert. She married Charles William Pumphrey in 1982. Mrs. Pumphrey had been a resident of Chatham for six years and of the Springfield area for most of her life. She was employed by the Illinois House of Representatives as a secretary for 18 years and retired in 1990. She was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Chatham. She was a volunteer at Chatham Elementary School for several years and she volunteered for friends of the library board for the Chatham area library system.
Survivors: husband, Charles William; a daughter, Donna Kay Pumphrey at home; a son, William Curtis Pumphrey at home; her mother, Mary L. Albert of Keyesport; two sisters, Mrs. Mark (Darlene) Knott of Crestwood, Mo., and Mrs. Larry (Debra) Taylor of Oak Park; two brothers, Don E. Albert of Greenville and Dave Albert of Shattuc; three nieces; six nephews; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Staab Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Theodore M. Snider officiating. Burial: Cumberland Cemetery, Glenarm.
