Funeral Held Tuesday For Mrs. McConnell

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence May McConnell, 58, were held from the Assembly of God Church at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, September 21, conducted by Rev. W.A. McCann, assisted by Rev. E.R. Foster of Amarillo.

Mrs. McConnell died Monday, following an illness of five days and was 58 years, 10 months and 15 days of age at the time of her death. She was born in Rockwell County, November 5, 1878, and before her marriage was Florene May Harvey. On June 22, 1896, she married J.N. McConnell and they came to Deaf Smith County in 1916, from Floyd County, Texas.

A resident of this section for the past 21 years, Mrs. McConnell had many friends here who mourn her death. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was a faithful worker in the church.

She is survived by three sons, Robert McConnell of Canyon, George McConnell of Hereford, and Harvey McConnell, of Amarillo, and by three grandchildren, six brothers, H.C. Harvey of Springtown, Texas; R.B. Harvey of Quemado, Texas; W.T. Harvey of McAdoo, Texas; F.W. Harvey of Spurr [sic]; J.E. Harvey of Dickens, and O.S. Harvey of McAdoo; three sisters, Mrs. B.H. Handley of Crosbyton; Mrs. C.C. Ball of Baileyboro, and Mrs. D.M. Varnell of Elton.

Among the out-of-town persons at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Harvey, Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Handley, Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Elton, F.W. Harvey, and Mr. and Mrs. Norris.

Interment was made in West Park Cemetery.
