"At the family residence, 116 West Wood street, at 10 o'clock this morning, Mrs. Elizabeth Groes entered into eternal rest at the age of 80 years.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. W. C. Atwood and burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
The deceased is survived by four sons and five daughters, George and Charles Groes of Brookfield, and Andrew and Fred Groes of Laclede; Mrs. Susan Barber and Mrs. Mary N. Barnes of Brookfield, Mrs. Kate Mullenix of Eureka, Kansas, and Mrs. Elizabeth Zerb of Fairland, Oklahoma.
For many years the deceased mother had been a citizen of Linn county and of Brookfield. She was a good mother and a highly esteemed Christian woman. Her life was a useful as well as long one." The Brookfield Argus (Brookfield, Missouri), March 26, 1917
