Norvel Lee Andrews was born 19 June 1911 in Onalaska Texas to Homer Lee and Pauline Campbell Andrews at the home of his beloved maternal grandparents, James W and Mattie Lou Brewer Campbell. His paternal grandfather was William Walter Andrews of Arkadelphia, Ark and Savannah Young who died when his father was young. His siblings were Margaret, Judson Lewis "Lew", and Betty Joyce. He met and married Lucretia "Lucy" Hudson while he was working as a relief telegrapher for the Santa Fe Railroad in Pineland, TX where Lucy was an assistant postmistress. They had two children, Norva Lou and Norvel Lee "Sonny". Norvel continued with Santa Fe Railroad becoming the Assistant to the Vice President of Operations for the company in Chicago. He was known for facillitating the establishment of the first automated engine tracking system and of the first school to train dispatchers to keep the railroad moving smoothly. A loving father, he was also an avid golfer. He was living in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas at the time of his death.
