A.J. Atnip, 87, passed away Fri., Feb. 13, 2015 at Woodbury Nursing Center following an extended illness. He was a native of Dekalb Co. Mr. Atnip was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel & Prudie Page Atnip and his sister, Joy Rose Atnip Bickel.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Shirley Duke Atnip of Bradyville; Children: Kathleen Atnip Bean of Bradyville and Glenn (Melissa) Atnip of Mt. Juliet; Grandchildren: Dalton, Austin & Jordan Bean, Conner & Caleb Atnip

and Great Granddaughter: Haven Grace Bean.

A.J. was a member of the Woodbury First Baptist Church. He was a successful dairy and beef farmer and owned farms in Bradyville and Viola. He also raised and showed Tennessee Walking Horses.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 pm Sunday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Hunter Hay and Bro. Bobby Zumbro officiating. Interment will follow in the Whorton Springs Cmt. Pallbearers: Charles Bickel, Ralph Pickett, Dalton Bean, Austin Bean, Raymond Simmons & David Franklin. Visitation with the family will be from 3 pm to 8 pm Saturday, February 14, 2015.
