BARBARA JO WARDLAW

Barbara Jo Wardlaw, the daughter of the late James Wade Burnett and Marie Noveta (Wray) Burnett, was born September 28, 1941, in Boise City, Oklahoma. She entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2012, in Boise City, Oklahoma, at the age of 70 years.

Barbara was raised in Boise City, for most of her life. Barbara attended and graduated from the Boise City High School in Boise City.

Barbara was united in marriage to Clarke Albert Wardlaw on May 21, 1960. To this union four children were born, Jeffery David, Anita Gayle, Bradley Guy and Stacy Lynn. The family made their home in Boise City.

Barbara worked at Cimarron Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home, for 30 years. Barbara had many job titles while working at the hospital. You would often find her working after hours, her children remember many times being in the waiting room or sleeping on the office floor at the hospital, while Mom was working. After Barbara left the hospital, she worked for 13 years at the Boise City Public Works where she retired in December of 2008. Barbara continued to stay busy working at Ferguson Plumbing and volunteering her time to help others. Barbara was a member of the Boise City Senior Citizens Center, there she was the president. She was also a member of the Home Culture Club and the EMS Board. After retiring she spent a lot of time traveling. She traveled with family and friends to many places throughout Europe and a few exotic places such as Thailand, Cambodia, Tahiti and the Galapagos Islands.

Barbara enjoyed knitting, she knitted all of her family many things, including Christmas stockings. She was presently working on a stocking for her great granddaughter. Barbara loved to read and she loved to fish, but if the fish weren't biting she would be reading. Barbara and the family enjoyed their camping trips. The family always tried to get together at least once a year in Colorado for a family vacation.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Albert Wardlaw, her daughter Anita Gayle Wardlaw and her parents Pete and Marie Burnett.

Survivors include; her children Jeff Wardlaw and wife Kim of Okeene, Oklahoma, Brad Wardlaw and wife Janna of Moore, Oklahoma, and Stacy Sparkman and husband Curt of Boise City, three brothers, Wade Burnett of Cleburne, Texas, Dean Burnett of Boise City, and Carl Burnett of Hugoton, Kansas, two sisters, Doris Parsons of Stratford, Texas and Lynda Clifton, of Fritch, Texas, six grandchildren, Casey Wardlaw, Bradley Wardlaw, Brock Wardlaw, Bret Wardlaw, Trey Sparkman, Dakota Sparkman, one great granddaughter, Izzabella Montelongo and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:30am at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Boise City, Oklahoma with Rev. Cindy Robertson, officiating. Interment will be in the Boise City Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to either the Boise City Senior Citizens Center or to the Soutar Memorial Library, they may be left in care of the mortuary.
