Douglas William Bier, 61, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015. Memorial services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, February 16, 2015 in the chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, with the Reverend Clint Jett officiating. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery. Family will greet friends between 4:00-6:00PM on Sunday, February 15 at the Cupola.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stone Edge Church, 5659 Zebulon Road, Macon, Georgia 31210 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.

Mr. Bier was a member of Stone Edge Church, former Elder, and a current Sunday school teacher. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and graduated from the University of North Florida. He was the owner of Eagle Siding and employee of Hart’s Petuary and Hart’s Mortuary. He was also a former coach and board member at North Macon Ballpark.

Mr. Bier is survived by his wife, Betsy Watt Bier of Macon; sons, Tyler Bier (Melissa) of Mandeville, Louisiana, Alex Bier (AnnaBelle) of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Nathan Bier (Erin) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; daughter, Anna Bier of Atlanta; two grandchildren, John Bier and Katherine Bier, both of Mandeville, Louisiana; father, John Bier of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Jim Bier of Norcross, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Susan Cable (Paul) of Macon, and Janice Green (Robert) of Macon; Parents-in-law, Ed and Ruth Watt of Macon; nieces and nephews, Todd Bier, Ryan Bier, Brandon Bier, Payton Churchwell, Betsy Norwood, Shane Green, and Erin Lewis.

Hart’s Mortuary and Crematory at the Cupola has charge of arrangements.
