Ted is the third of six children born to William Joshua Ross and Mary Katherine Larue. His siblings are Ida Bell, Charles Arthur, William Clifford, Leonard, and Tommy. The family moved to Valley in Umatilla County, Oregon where his father farmed and then to Twin Falls, Idaho.
In 1918 when Ted reigstered for the World War I draft, he was farming in Canyon Creek, Idaho on his own. On April 12, 1926 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ted married Edna Mae Watts. They lived in Canyon Creek where Ted dry farmed and in Newdale.
Ted and Edna became parents to three children: Norman Ross, Ruby Lee, and Laura.
Ted died at Ashton Memorial Hospital.
