In the early morning hours of February 5th, 2015, Agnes "Jean" Alberts, 77, of Brussels, went home to the Lord. She was born August 6, 1937, and raised in Brussels, the daughter of Gouldie and Rita (Tassoul) Engebose. She married the love of her life, Morris John Alberts on November 24, 1954, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brussels, where she was a lifelong member and devout Catholic. Together, they built a family, and a business, establishing Alberts Plastering in 1952. She lived her whole life in the Brussels area, aside from 1955-56 in Olympia, Washington where Morris was stationed in the Army. Though a small town girl, she was an avid traveler, visiting all 50 states and several countries. She instilled the pride of her Belgian heritage and traditions in her family, and traveled several times to the Belgian homeland. She enjoyed reading, and in recent years, read all of the books written by Richard Paul Evans. Family always came first, and she was generous not only with what she had, but with a warm smile and helpful guidance. Her door was always open, with plenty of home cooking and baking awaiting, one of her favorites being her Grandma T's Kermiss soup, served in Grandma's bowl. She passed on her love of quilting, cake-decorating, gardening, and family recipes. The lessons she leaves behind in living life with love, grace, perseverance, togetherness, and a spirit of adventure will live on in all who succeed her. She will be forever remembered by her surviving family: children: Randy (Debbie) Alberts of Sturgeon Bay; Bruce (Pam) Alberts, Lori (Russ) Tuttle, John (Polly) Alberts all of Brussels; Paula (Dan) Mande of Green Bay; and Janel (Kerry) Underwood of Mission Viejo, CA. Grandchildren: Terry Gustafson, Tracy (Jason) Everard, Rachel Alberts, Savannah Alberts; Kristin Alberts; Nicole Tuttle, Allison (Mickey) Le; Melissa (Jeremy) Schley, Andy (Shannon) Alberts, Nathan Alberts; Jordan Mande, Alyssa Mande; Benjamin Underwood, and Cora Jean Underwood. And she was "Grandma Wow" to Collin, Beau, Payton, and Josephine "Josie" Jean. Siblings: Mae Collin, John (Lea) Engebose, and Gary (Sandi) Engebose. Further survived by sisters-in-law and her special cousin/"sister"/travel companion/caregiver Shirley DeVos. Godchildren: Trisha Albert Markham, Sharon Korpal, and Joe Engebose. She is now happily re-united with those who have gone before: Her husband Morris John, who passed away March 5, 1991. Son Christopher, her parents Gouldie and Rita Engebose, sister Germaine, brother Merle, Godfather Clarence Engebose, Godmother Adeline LuMaye, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels with burial in St. Francis Cemetery.
