VIRGIL BELD OBITUARY
BELD - Virgil Burdette (Bub), aged 90, of Jenison, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Saturday, November 25, 2006. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Addillia Beld; brothers, George, Cameron, Donald and Gerald and his sister, Esther Stadt. He is survived by his loving wife, Isla; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marie (Gerald) Beld; two daughters, Mrs. John (Nancy) Sage of Kalamazoo, Mrs. John (Mary) Gort of Bailey and a son, Mr. Douglas (Lynne) Beld of Grandville; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. VirgiI was born at home in his mother's parlor in Grand Rapids, and graduated from Lee High School and Hope College, and received a Master's Degree in counseling from Michigan State University. Virgil spent most of his working years with the State of Michigan, counseling the physically challenged and was supervisor of the local Vocational Rehabilitation office for eight years before his retirement. Virgil was a life-long vocal soloist and also directed several local church choirs. He also had a love of all kinds of music, in particular great pipe organ music. A Grandville resident for over 40 years, Virgil was a past president of the Grandville Rotary Club and also served for I I years on the Grandville School Board where he was also past president. As school board president, he had the joy of presenting both of his daughters with their high school diplomas when they graduated from high school. Virgil and his wife, Isla, were winter residents of Boynton Reach, Florida and summered at Maranatha Bible Conference on Lake Michigan in Muskegon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 am at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, with Dr. Stan Must and Rev. John Steigenga officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or LaGrave Ave. CRC (Choir and Organ Fund).
