Note: Many books have been written and many movies have been made over the years of Sam and Belle Starr. Sam was killed in a shoot-out with his 2nd cousin Frank West, a Cherokee policeman in 1886 in Oklahoma (Whitefield), Indian Territory and Belle was killed by an unknown assassin three years later, 1889.
