He was born to Sherman Fletcher and Bessie Voight on March 28, 1934, in Travis County, Texas.
George was an amazing man. He was a loving father and husband. He was one of the best men you could ever have known. There was always an extra plate and bed for anyone who needed one in his home. He loved hunting, golf, sports, and mainly fishing which all family vacations were on the water doing such. George and his wife started the Boerne Youth Basketball program in the 70's. He also served as an Optimist Club Member for many years.
George was a hard-worker. He left home as a junior in high school to work. He would send monies home to his parents. He later returned to finish school. While away, he met his wife of 55 years, Shirley Ann Carathers. He started his own roof decking company after the company he worked for folded. He also had a few extra businesses as he continued his journey in this world.
George was one of 11 children. He was preceded in death by all ten of his siblings; his wife, Shirley; and his eldest son, Wade.
George is survived by his daughter, Vicki; son, Russell and his wife, Amy; son, Jeff and his wife, Kari; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many dear friends. He will be greatly missed. He was loved by all and respected by many. He is truly in the best place ever; we just hope they have work for him!
