MERLE BUNN, 49, IS DEAD AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

The death of Merle Leroy Bunn, 49, of 201 South Ijams street, Garrett, took place Thursday at 10:25 p.m. after a brief illness from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Mr. Bunn, who was in the general contracting business, seemed to be in good health prior to being fatally stricken. He was at home at noon Thursday and he had gone to the George D. Traster residence at 117 North Lee street to do some work when he became ill at 2:30 from a severe headache. He drove his truck home and a half hour later a physician was summoned. Mr. Bunn was given medicine and he slept until about 5 o'clock. Soon after he awakened he lapsed into unconsciousness and did not revive thereafter.

The body was taken to the McKee funeral home at Randolph and Dennis streets and remained there until Sunday noon, when it was removed to the First Church of Christ on East King street. Rites were held at 2 p.m., the Rev. Merle Bright of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment was made in the Huntertown cemetery.

Mr. Bunn was born Sept. 21, 1908, five miles south of Fort Wayne, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Bunn. He and Viola Oyer of Fort Wayne were married in that city Oct. 12, 1929, and the family moved to Garrett ten years ago. Surviving are the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Souder of 500 South Walsh street, Garrett, three sons, Gene, Dale and Keith, all at home, three grandchildren, six brothers, Russell Bunn of Emily, Minn., Clarence and James of Fort Wayne, Ralph of Churubusco, Edward of 400 South Guilford street, Garrett, and Don of Huntertown, and two sisters, Mrs. Opal Houser of Huntertown and Mrs. Anna Christlieb of Kendallville.

Mr. Bunn was a member of the First Church of Christ in Garrett, the Masonic lodge at Huntertown and the Scottish Rite at Fort Wayne.
