After searching for further information, it seems that Joseph C. Bloyd was killed at the Battle of Cloyd's Mountain which occurred May 9, 1864. James W. Bloyd, also a member of Co. H, 11th WV INF, mustered in on November 10, 1862 and was discharged June 17, 1865.
