Gilbert Francis Fangman, 77, Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at his home.

Gilbert was born February 4, 1938, the son of Paul and Florence Stallbaumer Fangman.

On August 17, 1959, Gilbert and Edna Heiman were united in marriage, enjoying 55 years together.

He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 43 years of service. Gilbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4254 and Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, where he was an active volunteer. He was also a long-time volunteer for Let’s Help and VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). Gilbert made many rosaries for families, friends and for the Missions. He was an avid golfer and he and Edna traveled to all 50 states. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was dearly loved.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; children, Catharine Berry (Walter), Carol Grimm (Kevin), Martin Fangman, Doris Geeding (Martin), Gary Fangman (Shelly) and Amy Wallis (Todd); 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; brothers, Charles, Leonard, Elmer, John and Lester Fangman; and sisters, Janie Werner and Sr. Esther Fangman, OSB. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Haug.

Visitation is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
