Married to Florence Miltona (Butler) Roadruck on October 25, 1864. Father of Charles E., Clara E., Anna Mary, Elma Mabel, Hugh E., Guy Elbert, Marion Herbert, and Gladys Irene Roadruck.

Married to Ella C. (Staton) Roadruck on November 2, 1892. Father of Ethel M. and Ben Orville Roadruck.

OBITUARY:

B. F. Roadruck, son of Benjamin and Katherine* Roadruck was born in Warren County, near Williamsport, Indiana, July 8*, 1841*, died March 6, 1915, making him 73* years, 7 months and 26 days of age.

He moved with his parents to Newton County, near Morocco in 1846, living there until the Civil War in which he enlisted, June 1862. He served until wounded in the siege of Atlanta July 1864, when he returned home on furlough. He later moved to Douglas County, Minnesota, in 1867, residing there until 1876, when he returned to Morocco making his home here until about a year ago when he moved to Inglewood, near Los Angeles, California.

He was married to Florence M. Butler, October 25, 1863*, who died November* 19*, 1888. To this union were born 8 children, 7 of whom are living, Mayme and Charles of Morocco, Irene and Guy of Fairbanks, Alaska, Herbert of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. J. F. Beckner of San Bruno, California, and Mrs. O. M. Graves of Indianapolis. Hugh E. died in infancy.

Mr. Roadruck was married to Ella Staton October* 1893*. To this union were born 2 children, Ethel, dying in infancy, and Ben O. of Inglewood, California.

He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife and children, 2 sisters and 1 brother, Mrs. Martha Hunt of Los Angeles, Mrs. A. E. Purkey and D. W. Roadruck of Morocco, Also 1 stepdaughter, Pearl Staton, 15 grandchildren and one great grand child.

He joined the M. E. church when a boy, but later became a member of the Christian Church of which he was a faithful member until his death.

He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Morocco, and the Encampment of Oxford, Indiana and the G.A.R.

The body arrived here Friday accompanied by his son Ben, and was taken to the home of his son, Charles, who went to Chicago to meet the body. The funeral was held in the Christian Church Saturday conducted in a beautiful and appropriate manner by Prof. Gates, minister of the church, and was one of the largest attended funeral held there in years. The old soldiers and the Odd Fellows were out in a body, the latter having charge of the service at the grave. There were four members of the Oxford Encampment present, which showed the respect with which they held the deceased. They also presented a beautiful floral piece. There were a number of floral offerings. The I.O.O. F. and G. A. R., orders of his California town sent pieces with the body, but of course, they were withered when they arrived here. Miss Hetty McIntyre, Mrs. Lyda Best and Messrs. W., D. Stevens and M. S. Archibald furnished the music.

Mr. Roadruck was a pioneer of Newton County, a good businessman--conservative in investments and careful of expenditures, and thus owned several properties here as well as his home in California. He was of a domestic temperament and loved his home and family.

His wife and children expect to return here to live as soon as the property in California can be disposed of.

BENJAMIN F. ROADRUCK was born July 8*, 1841*, in Warren County, Indiana and is the eldest of six children of Benjamin and Catharine (Stoner) Roadruck, the former of Scotch-Welsh, and the latter of German descent. His parents came to Newton County, Indiana in 1844, and located on the farm now owned by their son, Benjamin F., where they lived until the death of the father, with the exception of nine years spent in Minnesota; the mother still lives in Morocco. He remained with his parents until August 12, 1862, when he enlisted in Company E., Ninety-ninth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and served until severely wounded in the hand in a battle before Atlanta, August 16, 1864. He participated in all the battles of the Atlanta campaign,
and many other engagements in Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama.

He was married, October 25, 1864, to Florence M. Butler, a native of Coshocton County, Ohio. Six children have been born to them--Charles E., Clara E., Anna M., Elma M., Guy A. and Marion H., all of whom are living.

After his return from the war, he went to Minnesota, and pre-empted a homestead of 160 acres, upon which he lived nine years, returning on account of his health to Morocco. After his father's death, he bought the interest of the other heirs, and now owns his father's farm and other property in Morocco.

Mr. Roadruck is a member of Beaver Lodge, No. 378, I.O.O.F., and has passed all the chairs in that lodge, and is at present D.D.G.M.; he is also a charter member of Morocco Post, 111, G. A. R. He and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In politics, he is a Democrat.
