ASOTIN -- Mary B. Appleford, 82, Asotin
Mary B. Appleford of Asotin passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. She was 82 years old.

Mary was born April 2, 1924, in Lewiston. Her parents were Roy and Nellie Kight Mellott. She grew up and went to school at Culdesac where her dad was janitor of the school. Mary graduated from Culdesac High School in 1942.

Upon graduation, Mary moved to Clarkston where she operated a small cafe. While working in the cafe at Asotin, she met Edison Appleford. They were married Dec. 26,1948, in Spokane.

Mary and Edison farmed from 1948 to 1991 on Montgomery Ridge, east of Anatone, where they raised wheat and cattle. In 1991 they retired and moved to Asotin.

Mary loved to work in her yard and grew flowers of all kinds and many turned into beautiful craft projects.

Mary is survived by her husband, Edison at their home in Asotin; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Tom and Barb Appleford on the farm at Anatone and Rob and Joni Appleford of Fairbanks, Alaska; three grandsons, Cody Appleford of Walla Walla, Cory Appleford of Asotin and Chance Appleford of Anatone; one sister, Ethel Marshall of Maple Valley, Wash.; and one brother, Bud Simpson of Crooked Creek, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nellie Kight Mellott.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Merchants Funeral Home in Clarkston.

Final resting place is at Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston.
