Robert "Bob" Singleton Adams, age 80, of 3326 Keys Street, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born on November 5, 1934 in Townville, he was the son of the late Floyd S. and Maebell Crenshaw Adams.
He retired after 22 years of service to his country in the US Army. Mr. Adams was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and served a tour of duty in Korea and attained the rank of Sergeant. After his retirement from the Army, Bob was employed for 18 years as a machine operator at LaFrance Industries. He later was employed for 8 years at Winn Dixie in Anderson. He was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church and attended Landmark Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Neil Adams of Anderson; a daughter, Janet Adams Walden of Anderson; a brother, Waymon M. Adams and his wife, Dianne, of Anderson; two sisters, Laura Hooper and her husband Howell, of Townville and Elizabeth Stokes and her husband, Dave, of Algonac, MI; five grandchildren, Michael Wickham, Wendy Wickham, Robby Wickham and partner, Nikki Powell, Danny Wickham, and Kristy Walden Hope and her husband, Jason; 17 great-grandchildren; a special nephew, and Travis Adams and partner, Sissy, of Anderson. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty, Robert was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Adams and Charles Crenshaw.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Bob Adams will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Busha officiating. Interment will follow at the M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Robby Wickham and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
