J. Henry Shields, Hooker, a resident of this area for many years and former owner of the Hooker Advance passed away at his home in Hooker Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Shields had been in poor health since last spring, having suffered from Pneumonia and a heart attack earlier in the summer. He was confined to his bed for several days before his death yesterday.
Final arrangements have not yet been made. Interment will be at the Hooker Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of the home and one daughter, Mrs. Helen Hughey of Hooker. There are two grandchildren, Lloyd Burton and J. Harley Hughey, and other relatives.

Mr. Shields was well known over the entire Panhandle area and made his home in Hooker for a number of years where he owned and published the Hooker Advanced. Mr. Shields sold his business a few years ago on account of ill health. He suffered several severe heart attacks and has been under the care of his physician for some time. He passed away at his home in Hooker quite suddenly Saturday afternoon.
